CTMH Alternative Guestbook for a Baby Shower

I am going to be a grandmother!  I'm pretty excited about it.  In fact, I've been going a little bit overboard and my husband keeps having to pull me back.  I just want to buy all the cute baby clothes and make a bunch of cute baby things.  I can't help myself!

Our daughter lives out of state.  Hubby is driving down this weekend to see her.  Before he goes, we have a family barbecue to attend and he thought it would be fun if we could get everybody to sign a card or something to take down to her. know I couldn't just do a little card and call it good.  Inspiration struck!  I decided to do a piece of art that could hang in the nursery.

Today while we are at the barbecue, everyone can sign a balloon and add a little message.  I'm so excited about this project!

The background is a 12x12 sheet from the new CTMH Calypso B&T Papers.  The images were all cut using my Cricut Explore and CTMH Cardstock in the colors Pixie, Hollyhock, Pomegranate, Black, and Daisy White.  I also used a textured piece in Pixie from the Whimsy Fundamentals cardstock.

The font for the words came from my CTMH Artfully Sent cricut cartridge.  I modified the balloon from the CTMH Artistry cricut cartridge.  The zebra...well that I purchased directly from Cricut because I couldn't find one on my cartridges and my daughter loves zebras.  I won't tell if you don't.

I layered the balloons so that some went of the page and then trimmed them down.

The words I cut in 2 different colors and then glued together slightly off to give the sense of a shadow or 3D effect.

Finally I added some hand-drawn balloon strings so that the zebra looked like she was floating.  Overall, this was a fun weekend project and a great alternative to a card or a Guestbook if you are throwing a baby shower.  It will hang easily in a shadow box from CTMH and be such a sweet addition to the baby's nursery!

Let me know what you think and send me pictures of your DIY alternatives for cards and guestbooks.
